The Higashi-Ginza Area Management Association, co-organized by the Higashi-Ginza Town Development Promotion Council, sponsored by Shochiku Co., Ltd., and supported by the Chuo City Tourism Association, is pleased to announce the 'Higashi-Ginza Wind Chime Event 2026' (July 17 - August 17). Now in its sixth year, we invite you to visit the Higashi-Ginza area for this event, whether you are coming from a play or shopping. 【Approximately 500 Edo Wind Chimes and Nambu Ironware Wind Chimes Decorate Higashi-Ginza's Summer Coolly】 In ancient Japan, there was a custom of decorating with futaku, bell-shaped bronze bells, to ward off epidemics and evil spirits. Following this custom, we will use "Nambu Ironware Wind Chimes," popular in Iwate Prefecture, and with the cooperation of people in the surrounding areas, centered around the Ginza-Tsukiji area, we will install approximately 500 wind chimes in about 120 locations, including representative spots such as the Kabuki-za Theatre and Tsukiji Honganji Temple, as well as restaurants. The short strips will feature designs of 'Senshuda' with pictures related to each of the thirty-seven towns in Chuo City, and the Edo-style characters of 'Yui Higashi-Ginza,' symbolizing Higashi-Ginza aiming to be a 'town that connects people,' decorating the entire town! Furthermore, at Ginza Shochiku Square and the first floor of the Toei Building, we will create a refreshing space using "Edo Wind Chimes," a traditional craft of Tokyo, produced using a method passed down for over 300 years. You can also enjoy the difference in the sound of the two types of wind chimes. 【Sendai Tanabata Comes to Higashi-Ginza! Display of Strips Filled with Wishes】 In addition, from July 17 (Fri) to August 6 (Thu), the 'Sendai Tanabata Decoration Exhibition Event,' organized by KPP Group Holdings, Inc., co-organized by the Higashi-Ginza Area Management Association, and supported by Narumiya Paper Merchants, Inc., will be held concurrently again this year.
