A Qantas A330-200 aircraft flying over Melbourne [June 29, 2026] Qantas Airways (headquartered in Sydney, CEO Vanessa Hudson) will expand operations on the Tokyo (Narita)–Melbourne route, adding a total of 30,000 additional seats on this route.* In response to growing demand, the Tokyo (Narita)–Melbourne route will increase from the current daily one flight to 11 flights per week between December 2026 and March 2027. Japan remains a popular destination for Qantas passengers, with passenger numbers between October 2025 and March 2026 reaching 350,000, an 8% increase compared to the previous year.
